In this lecture, the lecturer will discuss Terence’s six remaining comedies; the missing link between Alexandrian poets, such as Callimachus or Apollonius of Rhodes; and Latin “Neoteric” poets, such as Catullus or Virgil. Terence is a pivotal figure in the history of Latin literature, and he deserves credit for introducing new ways of thinking about poetry in Rome.

The lecture will be delivered by Dr. Michael Fontaine, Associate Professor of Classics and Associate Dean of the Faculty of Classics, Arts and Science, Cornell University.
