The Bibliotheca Alexandrina is hosting the "Academic Freedom Conference: Problems and Challenges in Arab and African Countries", organized by UNESCO Forum Regional Scientific Committee for Arab states, the Arab and African Research Center in Cairo (AARC), the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA) and the Swedish Institute in Alexandria. The conference will shed light on topics such as the development and modification in the concept of academic freedom in Arab and African states, the economical realities and impacts on academic freedom, as well as how it is affected by globalization.
