The Bibliotheca Alexandrina is hosting an exhibition portraying the works of Henrik Ibsen, the Norwegian playwright who is acknowledged as the founder of modern prose drama. It begins in Oslo, January 2006 and travels through Copenhagen, Berlin and Rome before reaching Alexandria.

The exhibition includes bronze sculptures of the female characters of Ibsen's plays, by the recognized Norwegian artist, Nina Sundbye. In addition, it consists of boards that shed light on several of the debated issues of his plays such as women's liberation, freedom of expression, corruption, religious fundamentalism, power struggle, social suppression, nationalism and internationalism, conflicts between generations and freedom of individuals.
