The BA will host Scouts, who will gather from around the world as the sun rises to celebrate one hundred years since Lord Baden-Powell ran his experimental scout camp on Brownsea Island (UK).
The flame is intended to spread the spirit of the founder of the Girl Guide/Girl Scout Movement, Lord Baden-Powell, all over the world and will also symbolize ‘The flame of Peace 2007’.
The main idea of the project is to carry a flame via an overland or sea journey. The Flame will be taken via the shortest route, i.e. Ethiopia, Sudan and finally Alexandria, Egypt. The flame will then be carried by Scouts and Guides through Greece, Italy, France, Belgium and finally the UK where it will arrive on 31 July 2007, the eve of Scouting sunrise.
