The BA is organizing a seminar entitled “Speak Out! Your Gate to Hope”, within the framework of the one-year campaign “Depression: Let’s Talk” launched by the World Health Organization (WHO) in October 2016. This comes in cooperation with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the Psycho-Social Services and Training Institute in Cairo (PSTIC)—a Terre des Hommes (TdH) affiliated institute. It is noteworthy that BAIFA (Bibliotheca Alexandrina Information for Africa) has adopted this campaign since March 2017 by preparing a number of virtual activities to support African refugees.
The seminar is going to be held on 28 September at 10:00 am at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Conference Center (BACC), Delegates Hall. Interested attendees are required to register on the day of the event as available places are limited and will be offered on a first come, first served basis. Instant translation into Arabic and English will be available. The event will also be streamed live through the BA webcast website and the official BAIFA Facebook page.

In this context, a number of African refugees residing in Egypt are invited to share their own success stories in the seminar in the presence of Dr. Nancy Baron, director of Psycho-Social Services and Training Institute in Cairo (PSTIC)/Terre des Hommes, and other professionals. A group of researchers involved in this field, who can offer help to those who seek to overcome depression, will also be attending the event.

All the resource material—such as research papers, reflections, videos, etc.—presented during the event will be later added to BAIFA resources.
