In the framework of the first cultural season presented by the Alex-Med Center, the third lecture in the season will be held by Professor Hossam Abd el-Basset, a researcher in the program of Islamic Civilization Studies, historian and archeologist. He has many publications, such as The Photographic Memory of Alexandria,. He worked as an Archaeological Inspector at the Supreme Council of Antiquities since 2003, where he participated in many scientific missions for the excavation and restoration of antiquities, and serves as the Director of Archaeological Follow-up in Alexandria since 2012. The lecture will be commented on by Dr. Mohammed el-Gamal, Supervisor of the BA Islamic Civilization Studies Program.

Professor Hossam Abd el-Basset will speak about Alexandria as a platform for the scholars of the Islamic West, the destination of Sufi movements in the Middle Ages, how it paved the way for the early Sunni schools to confront the Fatimid Caliphate, and he will guide us through studying and following the progress of the city's scholars to extrapolate some of the landmarks of the city that disappeared from sight. Between the tombs of the righteous and the cemeteries of the great, the researcher takes us on a tour to see some of the events and facts in the history of this ancient city.
