The BA launches its first Francophone Literary Salon, “Majlis Ṭahṭāwī”, with renowned French journalist and author Robert Solé as guest of honor. Participants hosting the event include journalist and writer Cherif El-Shoubashy; Professor of French Literature and Translation at Alexandria University, Rachida El-Diwani; and Professor of French Literature and Translation at Pharos University in Alexandria, Nadeya Aref. Ṭahṭāwī’s most famous work, Takhlîs al-ibrîz fî talkhîs Bârîz (The Extraction of Gold, or An Overview of Paris), is expected to be discussed in-depth.
