The meeting discusses Groundwater and Human Security Project, the project studies the relationship between the vulnerability of groundwater for pollution or degradation and community safety, since communities in developing countries rely on groundwater as a main source for drinking, agriculture and other purposes. The study area in Egypt (Wadi El Natroun) is located approximately 90 km south of Alexandria and 110 km North West of Cairo in the Western Desert.
The Project will be supervised by the United Nations University in Canada and Germany, and the UNESCO International Hydrological Program (IHP). The Project will be implemented in three developing countries including Egypt.
