Hamzawy is the Research Director and Senior Associate at the Carnegie Middle East Center in Beirut. His research interests include the changing dynamics of political participation in the Arab world and the role of Islamist movements in Arab politics. He has played a crucial role during the 25th of January Revolution, and has been a member in one of the Advisory Boards that were formed after the Revolution.
