The Bibliotheca Alexandrina is hosting an international symposium entitled “Emerging Humanisms” from 9 to 10 December 2003. Organized by UNESCO, the symposium will discuss a number of social issues including “Problem of world Citizenship”, “Democracy and Values”, “Arab Humanism”, and “Is Philosophy a Natural Science?”. Other topics will be discussed including “A new Humanism for a Globalized Society”, “Utopia or Interstitial Utopias: from the Political to the Domestic”, “Post-Modern Liberalism as a New Humanism”, “The Phenomenon of Indifference: Personal and Social Dimension”, “New Systems to Value Society Knowledge”, Emergence of Affective Political Movements”.
