Based on John Pielmeier's Tony Award-winning play, Agnes of God, the movie shows two mysteries in one. The First mystery, which is actually the main plot, revolves around a young nun, Sister Agnes. She was accused of killing of her newborn baby, who was found strangled and left in a wastepaper basket in her bedroom.
