The Bibliotheca Alexandrina was awarded the 2003 IABSE AWARD in Antwerp, Belgium in August 2003 as an exciting, modern landmark with unique foundation system and innovative structure form.
As a part of the Award, International members of IABSE are visiting Alexandria to present a Plaque commemorating the Award to the Library. Several Egyptian engineering companies will be brought together along with key figures in fields of governance, culture and industry.
The ceremonial event includes an opening session, addresses by keynote speakers, the unveiling of the Award's Plaque, and the inauguration of an Exhibition for the construction of the Library as well as dinner for invited guests, and a cultural program.
