The Dialogue Forum Center at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, presents a seminar on "The Role of Civil Society and Reform in Arab Countries: Reality and Horizon." The seminar is held in cooperation with the Arab Organization for Human Rights and the United Nations Developmental Program.
The seminar touches upon finding ways of developing the role of civil society and its institutions in Arab countries to meet the challenges of globalization.
Participants will mainly discuss five main panels:
- The reality of civil societies in Arab countries (a survey of recent civil society developments)
- The role of civil societies in a changing reality
- Problems facing application of strategies
- The fourth and fifth panels discuss reform strategies in light of the 'Alexandria Statement', issued by the Arab Reform Conference that was held at the Bibliotheca Alexandria, 12- 14 March 2004.
