The Calligraphy Center at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina hosts Prof. Dr. Gunter Dreyer, Director of the German Institute of Archeology in Cairo, to give a lecture entitled "The Origins of Writing in Egypt." The lecture will mainly focus on "how, why and where writing was invented." Prof. Dreyer will discuss the development and use of writing since its invention, using illustratoins from the royal tomb of Abydos (c. 3400- 2800 BC).
