The Information and Communication Technology Department at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina presents a lecture by Vinton Cerf, Senior Vice-President of Technology Strategy for MCI. Entitled "All the World's Libraries at our Fingertips," the lecture will discuss the Internet and digital libraries, as well as the effects of search engines and un-structured data with some speculations about Sir Tim Berner's Lee semantic web.

Vinton Cerf is known as one of the "fathers of the Internet" and is a co-designer of the TCP/IP protocols and architecture if the Internet. In 1997, Cerf received the U.S National Medal of Technology, in partnership with Robert E. Kahn, for founding and developing the Internet.
