This workshop is an introduction to the study of energy flows in and around groups of buildings. Participants will use emerging simulation tools that allow the analysis of building energy use, access to daylight as well as walkability and bikeability of urban environments, with emphasis on design interventions that create a more sustainable built environment. Both students and practitioners are welcome, and no background in building science and environmental control is needed.

Instructor: Architect Tarek Rakha, M.Sc., PhD candidate in Building Technology, Department of Architecture, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA.
