The BA Narrative Review is organizing a seminar to discuss Lebanese author Basma al-Khateeb’s novel Bortokal Mor (Bitter Oranges).The novel will be discussed by critics Dr. Mohamed Abdel Hamid Khalifa and Amira Abdel Shafy. The seminar will be moderated by writer Mounir Oteiba, Supervisor of the Narrative Review.

In her debut novel, Basma el-Khateeb aims to highlight the reality of the lives of lower and middle-class Lebanese women living in rural areas. She uses the culinary world, a world ruled by women, to depict the contradictions and conflicts that dominate their lives.
