The Arab Reform Forum Center, an affiliate to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, is organizing a workshop on the freedom of thought in Egypt. This issue is considered a main element in the development of Egypt and an entrance for Egypt to the knowledge world.
Over the course of two days, 28-29 august, the workshop will focus on various topics among which are, Historical background for the freedom of thought in Egypt; The law framework of freedom of thought in Egypt; The reality of academic freedom in Egypt; The reality of scientific research in Egypt; Religious views: Taqlid and Ijtihad; Social constraints of freedom of thought; as well as presentations on a number of opinions and visions related to the workshop.
