A lecture entitled "Our Place in the Universe", Dr. John Barrow, Professor of Mathematical Sciences, deals with the modern picture of the expanding universe and shows how its large scale properties are necessary for the existence of life within it.
He also introduces the theory of the inflationary universe along with the empirical evidence that supports it. One of the striking consequences of this theory is the prediction that our visible universe is a small part of a complex multiverse.
