The Conference aims at advancing the exchange of knowledge, fostering collaboration and enhancing the utilization of NASA and European Space Agency (ESA) space missions in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. It is intended to lead to sustainable research projects and activities and to enhance the public perception and understanding of astronomy and space science. It is also a celebration of the International Year of Astronomy (IYA) 2009.
