The BA hosts on Thursday, 1 November 2007, Professor Saul Sosnowski, Director, Latin America Studies Center, University of Maryland, USA, in a workshop entitled "Culture and Democracy: Lessons Drawn from Latin America", attended by academia, and political and social science experts.
In the workshop, Professor Saul Sosnowski will discuss the political system in Latin America, which now witnesses a critical political transformation in some of its countries, dating back to the Cold War and to the roots of liberation implanted by Simon Bolivar in this part of the continent.
He will also tackle the accumulative political culture opposing the American dominance in the continent, and the emerging political movements which benefited from the internationally spread democratic calls, and from the historical opposition towards the USA in pushing people to the ballot boxes and achieving great success.
