Empowerment of the Poor in a Conference at the BA

The BA will host on Wednesday, 12 December 2007, the Sixth Annual Conference of the Tohoti Egyptian Studies Society entitled "Empowering the Poor to Take Part in Economic Development".
Participants in the Conference include Information and Decision Support Center, the Arab League Economic Unity Council, Faculty of Economics and Political Sciences at Cairo University, Alexandria and Pharos Universities, and the Arab Academy for Science and Technology.
The Conference will cover the following topics: development features of the Egyptian economy over the past two decades, informal economy, policies that enable social groups to participate in the development process and its revenue, and the role of civil society in maximizing the development returns.
