Cardiologists from nearly all Egyptian Universities met in Alexandria in their 29th Annual International Conference discussing lots of new researches and sharing experiences.

From Monofia University they studied the effect of the surgical repair of the mitral valve on the pumping action of the left ventricle and the systolic myocardial tone.

A group of doctors from the Critical Care Medicine Department (Cairo University) discussed a comparison of angiographic and duplex indices of arterial stenosis.

Dr. Ayman El Sayed, Tanta University, presented a study of airway reactivity and cardiopulmonary functions with mitral stenosis before and after percutaneous mitral valvulotomy using a new metal valvulotome.

Zagazig cardiologists studied pulmonary venous flow and left atrial function: before and after percutaneous balloon mitral valvuloplasty: Diagnastic, Prognastic and Predictive significance.

Another research showed the changes of left ventricular systolic function after isolated mitral valve replacement with and without presentation of mitral apparatus.

From King Faisal Specialists Hospital and Research Center (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia), Dr. M. Eid Fawzy explained the results of mitral balloon valvulotomy in 536 consecutive patients using inoue.

Also from University of Baghdad, Prof. Sabah Yaakoub explained the diagnostic dilemma of mitral valve prolapse.
