The BA holds an exhibition for artist Hamed Saeed entitled “Sufi Meditations” from 6 to 26 January 2008.
The BA is proud to add to its permanent collection magnificent works by the pioneer Hamed Saeed, who passed away in 2006 leaving a rich legacy that marked Egyptian art and culture. He supervised and guided tens of distinguished artists while emphasizing the values of cultural specificity and originality in their works, and formed groups and projects that were celebrated by major international art critics when they were exhibited in Europe during the mid 1950s.
Hamed Saeed (1908-2006) is a distinguished pioneering artist and thinker who left a deep impact on generations of brilliant artists through his deep and persistent educational, creative and cultural career. Saeed was a highly cultured expert in Egyptian artistic and cultural identity, and he organized numerous exhibitions in Egypt and France for the artists he supervised. He was also a mentor, instructor, philosopher and capable ascetic artist who chose a simple life.
The exhibition will be held at the BA Conference Center, East and West Exhibition Halls.
