“Masterpieces of the National Library and Archives of Egypt”, an exhibition in the BA

Within the framework of the Alexandria First International Book Fair, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina is currently hosting an exhibition for the “Masterpieces of the National Library and Archives of Egypt”. The exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director General of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, General Abd El-Salam El-Mahgoub, Alexandria Governor, and Dr. Salah Fadl, Head of the National Library and Archives. The exhibition will be opened to the public till 6th August.
The exhibition contains 73 pictures from the most precious heritage collections of the National Library and Archives of Egypt and they are all displayed for the first time to the public. Items included in this exhibition are divided into three categories; Manuscripts, Papyri, and Documents representing different historical and cultural periods with a special emphasis on eastern civilizations, especially the Arab Islamic civilization. The collection also includes pictures of valuable documents on the social, political and administrative life in Egypt, released by the Egyptian administration in different historical periods.
The Bibliotheca Alexandrina, in collaboration with the National Library and Archives of Egypt, is currently preparing a catalog for this exhibition.
