The BA Issues a Book on Signed Manuscripts

The BA has recently published a book entitled “Signed Manuscripts”, including 21 scientific researches by a number of Arab and foreign researchers. The Book addresses four themes: the concept of signed manuscripts; studies on signed manuscripts; well-known authors’ signatures; and signed collections.
Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of Library the Alexandria, wrote a forward to the book, 381 pages, including an annex of photos of the manuscripts mentioned in the book. Dr. Serageldin stated that the BA Manuscripts Center took large strides towards raising the awareness among the public on the importance of our nation’s heritage.
Dr. Serageldin maintained that the Center’s endeavors reflect the true spirit of the Library of Alexandria and added that Arabic manuscripts is a testimony of history and a record of civilization that needs to be revived and deeply understood, through the efforts of the BA Manuscripts Center.
Dr. Youssef Zeidan, Director of the BA Manuscripts Center, explained the concept of signed manuscripts, which bears one or more signatures of Arab heritage renowned figures, whether the author or his/her prominent students or successors.
