Visit of the Famous Mexican Maestro

Within the framework of cooperation between Egypt and Mexico and due to the cultural importance of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina in the hearts and minds of the world thinkers, intelligentsias and artists, the famous Mexican Maestro Sergio Cardenas, whose compositions and works have attracted the attention of the music lovers around the world, paid a short visit to the Library on 30 March 2003.
H.E. Ambassador Taher Khalifa, the BA External Relations Consultant, received Mr. Cardenas and praised the bilateral relationships between Egypt and Mexico referring to the cooperation agreements that are concluded between the BA and the National Council for Culture and Arts (CONACULTA) in Mexico.
H.E. the Ambassador thanked Mr. Cardenas for his valuable donations, which included the digital records of the musical works by Maestro Cardenas and/or played under his conduction by the most renowned orchestras of Berlin and Denmark. It also included a number of his books as well as an anthology containing all the articles that were written about his music.
Mr. Cardenas expressed his deep gratitude for having this unique opportunity to visit this great cultural complex, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina and for being in Egypt, the land of the most ancient civilizations.
