Alexandria—The Institute of Peace Studies (IPS), hosted at the BA, organizes a Lecture by Professor Sture Linnér, Former UN Under Secretary General, entitled “Personal Memories of Dag Hammarskjold”, on Wednesday 16 December 2009.

Sture Linnér (born 1917) worked closely with Dag Hammarskjöd from 1960 onwards, when he supported the Secretary-General as Under-Secretary-General in charge of the United Nations mission in the Congo. He was among the last to see the UN Leader alive, before he died in an air crash.

Linnér has issued several books on Greek culture and ancient history, translations of ancient historical works (Thucydides and Livy), international relations and contemporary history, and is still active as a researcher and writer.

The Lecture starts at 5:00 pm at the BACC Delegates Hall, and is open to public.
