The BA Planetarium Science Center (PSC), in partnership with Goethe-Institute and the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT), is organizing the Science Film Festival for the 3rd consecutive year. The festival is going to be held from 29 November to 20 December 2016, and it will include numerous, family-friendly activities that aim to teach youth the wonders of science.

In 2015, the festival attracted 750,000 visitors from 16 countries. This year, it aims to attract a larger number of visitors and filmmakers. The festival program includes various activities, such as workshops on Material Science, workshops that are based on the basic principles discussed in the screened science films, science shows presented by the PSC, and more. Registration to attend the film screening and the workshops is free of charge.

In order to increase the number of people who can benefit from the 2016 festival, the program will take place in various venues all over Egypt. The program activities are going to be held at Goethe-Institute, the BA, and several schools in Alexandria from 29 November to 12 December 2016, and ASRT is then going to host the program from 13 to 18 December 2016 at its discovery centers in Tanta, Cairo, Sohag, and El-Wadi El-Gadid.

The festival demonstrates that science can be taught in an educational and entertaining manner using audiovisual means. The festival has significantly improved since its inauguration in 2005; it has become the largest event of its kind worldwide.
