This year, the BA will be participating in the 48th Cairo International Book Fair, set to begin on 26 January 2017, with several publications. Its contributions will be available in a display both and a sales booth, and they will include the latest BA publication: M'ejm althfh alwfa'eyh fy al'eamyh almsryh (The Wafa Masterpiece Lexicon of Egyptian Colloquialism), authored by Wafa Effendi Mohamed Alqwny (1849–1899), revised by Hesham Abd El Aziz, and presented by Dr. Ismail Serageldin, the Director of the BA.

The Wafa Masterpiece Lexicon of Egyptian Colloquialism is a cultural encyclopedia of the Egyptian society in the late 19th century. It was written around 120 years ago, and it recorded people’s commonly used words at that time as well as several of their colloquial expressions, their manner of speaking among each other, and examples of their customs and common idioms.

The BA will also present Arab Heritage: Selections from Dr. Gawad Ali’s Research at the fair. This exceptional scholarly work by the leading historian Dr. Gawad Ali is one of the most important works of research that the BA Manuscripts Center is working on producing in well-founded scholarly form.

The Moorish Manuscript Heritage, published by the BA Manuscripts Center, will also be included in the BA collection at the fair. This book comprises a collection of translated researches, from Spanish to Arabic, that highlight an important period in Arab and Islamic heritage, known as the Morisco era.

The BA will also be contributing in the fair with the Marased and Awrak series, the Al-Azhar Catalogue, Yacht Mahroussa: A Journey in the Royal Yacht, as well as The Photographic Memory of Alexandria, which is issued as part of The Memory of Modern Egypt Project and is the second volume of the book series on the photographic memory of Egypt.
