The World Braille Day at the BA

Posted on

The BA Taha Hussein Library for the Blind and Visually Impaired organizes a celebration on the occasion of the “World Braille Day” on 4 January 2011.

This international celebration is held annually as a tribute to the birthday of Louis Braille, born in 1809, the genius whose invention changed the lives of the visually impaired and blind people, through a reading and writing system of six raised dots, known as Braille.

The event will include a presentation, followed by a series of competitions between sighted and blind students. There will be also an exhibition of a collection of Braille books and periodicals as well as a number of Braille writing tools and devices.

The event starts at 10:30 am at the Main Library’s Auditorium.
