Leila and the Madman in a Play Reading at the BA
Posted on
The Reference Services Unit is holding its monthly play reading in English on Wednesday, 11 May 2011. Participants will read Leila and the Madman by Salah Abdel Sabour.
Inspired by the Classical Arabic story Leila and Majnun, the play is set before and during the Cairo Fire on 26 January 1952, and revolves around a group of very young left-wing radicals, who issue an oppositional newspaper, in an attempt to voice their opinions. However, due to unrelenting censorship and an unsuccessful love story between two members of the group, their dreams are eventually shattered.
The session starts at 13:00 hrs. at the BA Arts and Multimedia Library. Participants should register their names at the General Information Desk at the Library entrance.
