Children Explain Science to Children

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina Planetarium and Science Museum Center (PSC), won the special award for its project “Children Explain Science to Children” in the scientific exposition “Exposcience” in France from 19 – 22 July. Countries participating in the competition included Algeria, Egypt, Germany, Malta and Tunisia. 30 projects were submitted to the organizers covering different themes such as water, geology, archaeology, renewable energy resources and astronomy. The Egyptian one being prepared by the children of the Saint Vensant de Paul school in Alexandria. The Saint Vincent children compiled a 160-page book entitled “Children Explain Science to Children” explaining theories of light, color and optics in a simplified way, using illustrated funny stories. The Bibliotheca Alexandrina plans to publish this book in both French and Arabic.
