Dr. Moustafa Elfeki Receives the US Ambassador at the BA

Dr. Moustafa Elfeki, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, received H.E. Jonathan Cohen, the US Ambassador to Egypt on Tuesday, 18 May 2021.
Elfeki expressed his delight with Ambassador Cohen’s second visit to the BA, and noted that their meeting was highly fruitful and touched upon several vital issues, highlighting the fact that the US Ambassador values Egypt’s balanced policies and appreciates its efforts in resolving the current situation in Gaza.
With regard to the fundamental educational role of cultural institutions, Elfeki asserted that the BA continues to offer its services to students and researchers, while applying all the necessary precautionary health measures.
Moreover, Ambassador Cohen said that he was eager to visit the BA and explore the channels of cooperation and the possibilities of exchanging experiences on educational projects between the BA and different American entities in the near future. He also indicated that a number of Egyptian and American universities had recently signed cooperation agreements and launched numerous joint educational programs.
At the end of the visit, Dr. Moustafa Elfeki presented Ambassador Cohen and the accompanying delegation with a selection of BA publications, including the Catalogue of the Antiquities Museum.
