The BA Antiquities Museum and the Zahi Hawass Center of Egyptology, in collaboration with the Department of Antiquities and Civilization, Faculty of Arts, Helwan University, organize an online lecture entitled “Happiness in Ancient Egyptian Civilization in Light of Texts and Scenes”. The lecture is delivered by Dr. Heba Refaat Mohamed Ghaly, Lecturer at the Department of Antiquities and Civilization, Faculty of Arts, Helwan University. The lecture is broadcast on Sunday, 27 February 2022; 12:00 pm, on the “Bibliotheca Alexandrina Antiquities Museum” Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Bibliotheca-Alexandrina-Antiquities-Museum-219232808274600/

The lecture sheds light on the concept of happiness, the Ancient Egyptian’s life, religious ideas, habits, and traditions. The Ancient Egyptian was fully aware that happiness differs from one person to another based on their different attitudes. On one hand, some of them found their happiness in achievements, success, and career promotion; in pleasing the rulers and fulfilling their wishes; or in getting close to the gods. On the other hand, others found their happiness in freedom and beating enemies, or in ensuring receiving offerings after their death, as the deceased happiness was believed to be achieved through obtaining eternity after passing the judgment and the weight of the heart.
