The BA Arts and Multimedia Library organizes a lecture entitled “Sports and the Road to Universalism”, delivered by World Squash Champion Nour El-Sherbini, on Monday, 14 November 2022, at 2:00 pm, in the BACC Lecture Hall.

Nour will talk about her journey in sports, and the struggles and difficulties she faced on her way to winning world championships. She will also shed light on the importance of sports, how Egyptian women have been able to progress in various fields, and how they have become strong competitors who can reach the finals of world championships and are able to prove themselves and achieve their dreams. Moreover, the lecture aims to introduce the history, origins and importance of Squash, and will be accompanied by a display of a collection of BA publications that tackle this field.

The lecture is part of the “Sports and Health” program, presented by the Library Sector, which adopts a different sports theme every month. The first lecture was titled "Yoga for Life", followed by a lecture called "Athletes and Healthy Nutrition", and a seminar entitled "Explore your Abilities in Self-Defense". These events are in line with the vision of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina with regard to the importance of practicing sports and the encouragement of sports champions in general, and Egyptian women champions in particular. They also aim to highlight the role of the Egyptian state in empowering women, while praising Arab sports women qualified to reach universality.
