Second Day of “The Culture of Human Rights and Enhancing Participation among University Students” Workshop

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina held the sessions of the second day of the workshop "Spreading the Culture of Human Rights and Enhancing Participation among University Students", which was organized by the Egyptian Organization for Human Rights, in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Solidarity and the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
The first session was entitled "Civil Society and Human Rights: A Partnership for Change", delivered by BA senior researcher Dr. Sameh Fawzy. He explained that civil society does not only involve NGOs, but also includes political parties, trade unions, clubs, and other non-governmental organizations that are active in society.
In the second session, Dr. Ahmed Wahban, Dean of the Faculty of Economic Studies and Political Science at Alexandria University, discussed human rights in teaching and practice within Egyptian universities.
In the third and final session of the workshop, Dr. Suzi Adly, Professor and Head of the Department of Economics and Public Finance at the Faculty of Law, Alexandria University, tackled the subject of youth and marginalized groups.
At the end of the two-day workshop, participating students received certificates of participation from the Egyptian Organization for Human Rights.
