The Bibliotheca Alexandrina organized yesterday an event entitled "Children’s Journey to the World of Arabic Manuscripts", in collaboration with the Institute of Arabic Manuscripts. The event took place at the Center for Documentation of Cultural and Natural Heritage (BA Cultural Outreach Sector), in the presence of Prof. Ali Al-Naeem, Director of the Institute of Arabic Manuscripts.
The event began by introducing a group of preparatory students to the importance of Arabic manuscripts and their role in preserving Arab history and heritage for successive generations, as they learned about the most important inventions of the Arab and Islamic civilization in the field of astronomy.
The event included a Culturama show – an interactive show that takes attendees on a journey through Egyptian history. It concluded with a workshop on the writing of Kufic scripts. Gifts were also distributed to the participating children, including a colorful printed booklet featuring major inventions of the Arab and Islamic civilization.
