The BA Sinnari House in Cairo organized a cultural seminar on the reality and future of reading and publishing in the digital world. The seminar, which was moderated by Prof. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the BA, was attended by a large number of Egyptian cultural, intellectual, and media figures, in addition to a host of BA officials. It was followed by the Library's Iftar that is held annually on the occasion of the Holy month of Ramadan.
At the beginning of the seminar, Dr. Ahmed Zayed discussed the challenges posed by digitization with regard to the future of paper books as well as the questions posed by the "search engines" concerning the future of libraries in their traditional form.
The attendees stressed the importance of the use of artificial intelligence and expanding its teaching in universities, as it represents a radical shift in human history and an indispensable tool of the modern age, while taking into account the implementation of ethical and legal controls and frameworks that regulate its use.
