The Egyptian Ministry of Culture Honors the BA for its Role in Supporting Arabic Calligraphy and Preserving its Heritage

Dr. Ahmed Fouad Heno, Minister of Culture, honored the Bibliotheca Alexandrina at the conclusion of the 10th Cairo International Forum for Arabic Calligraphy (2025), which was held on Sunday, 21 December 2025. The honor was in recognition of the Library’s pioneering role and continuous contributions to supporting Arabic calligraphy academically and artistically across the Arab world, as well as its outstanding efforts in preserving Arab and Islamic cultural heritage, safeguarding calligraphic collections, and making them available to researchers and enthusiasts, thereby reinforcing the presence of Arabic calligraphy in the contemporary cultural scene both locally and internationally.

This honor is the culmination of the vision of Dr. Ahmed Abdalla Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, which has established the Library as a leading knowledge and cultural institution that seeks to support intellectual and artistic creativity and promote scientific research in the fields of heritage and identity.
