Al-Ahram Club Screens of the BA’s First Scientific Film about Astronomy

The Al-Ahram Scientific Club held a special screening at the Mohamed Hasneen Heikal Hall on Sunday, 26 October 2014 of the scientific film: Alexandria the Cradle of Astronomy, which is the first film to be produced by the BA. The film discusses the role of the old library in spreading culture, science, and the spirit of knowledge and dialogue.
A seminar was held following the 25-minute movie [comma removed] in the presence of the executive team behind the film. In his speech, Dr. Ismail Serageldin, the Director of the BA, stressed that this seminar is proof that Al-Ahram is an important partner in delivering the BA’s message. He also stressed that the production of the film is considered a technical, scientific, and cultural achievement. The film was produced from A to Z through Egyptian efforts. since the Planetarium Center is the first in the Middle East to successfully produce a film played at 360 degrees from A to Z with total Egyptian effort.
The Director also announced that preliminary agreements have been reached with major American and European distribution companies to promote this film. The film was supervised by a large number of experts who have also revised the scientific content, such as Dr. Mostafa al-Abadi, a professor of Greek Civilization at the University of Alexandria, and the great scientist Dr. Farouk el-Baz, the Director of the Center for Remote Sensing Research at Boston University and member of the Presidential Scientific Advisory Council.
