The Anna Lindh Foundation Journalist Award for Cultural Diversity

Alexandria — As part of the role of the Anna Lindh Foundation for Dialogue among Cultures, the foundation in cooperation with the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) will organize an international competition titled the Anna Lindh Foundation Journalist Award for Cultural Diversity for exceptional journalistic productions contributing to a better understanding of the diversity of cultures. Young, working journalists between the age of 25 and 35 can apply. The competition aims at encouraging journalism that effectively contributes to the ongoing dialogue between cultures and peoples by spreading awareness of diversity and stimulating European and Mediterranean journalists to take a fresh look at the richness of culture and history in the region.
Winning articles will be selected on the basis of the professional quality and journalistic standard applied in research and writing and the capacity of the writer to take on others’ perspectives and to inspire readers.
The jury will consist of exceptional journalists, journalism professors and intellectuals. Each year four winners will be selected, two from Europe and two from the partner countries in the southern Mediterranean.
The winners will receive a trophy and an invitation to a trip of four countries that will include meetings with decision-makers as well as activists at the grassroots level. The winning articles will be posted on the Foundation"s website as well as the IFJ website.
The awards will be handed over at a ceremony to be held on 10 September -the day the late Swedish Foreign Minister Anna Lindh was assassinated- in order to commemorate her encouragement of partnership and cooperation between North and South on an equal footing.
