A Rare Quran Painting by Mohamed Ibrahim Among the BA Collection

Alexandria— The BA received a distinguished donation; a rare painting with the Quranic verses by Calligrapher Mohamed Ibrahim, founder of the school for improving Arabic calligraphy in Alexandria. The painting is written in Persian Ghobari, which is among the most difficult Arabic Calligraphies.

Dr. Sohair Wastawy, Head, Library Services Sector, stated that the painting is a donation from Manal Fouad Yassin, in the name of her father. Dr. Wastawy added that the painting was among the acquisitions of King Farouk I, by Calligrapher Mohamed Ibrahim, who finished it in two months and donated it to King Farouk I, on the occasion of the ninth anniversary of King Farouk's acceding to the throne of the Egyptian Kingdom.
