The BA Concludes the Japan Arab Conference with an Ikebana Demonstration

The BA concluded the two-day Japan-Arab Conference, A New Dawn: Arabs Looking East, on Wednesday, 21 November 2007. The Conference was attended by Arab and Japanese senior officials, businessmen, intellectuals, scientists, and media men, with the aim to reinforce Japan–Arab relations on all fronts and to explore future possibilities for further cooperation.
The closing session started by reviewing the reports of all parallel sessions, emphasizing the future possibilities for further cooperation between the two parties.
Dr. Serageldin gave an address on the History of the Islamic civilization, followed by an Ikebana demonstration— the famous Japanese art of flower arrangement.
At the end of the session, a press conference was held in which Dr. Serageldin announced the Alexandria declaration entitled "Towards a New Japan-Arab Partnership"—drafting a formula on the new Japan Arab partnership.
Dr. Serageldin concluded the session by declaring the success of the Conference, stressing the possibility of convening specialized conferences on the Japanese Arab relations in the future, however dates are not yet decided. He focused on the necessity of following up on the successful experience of the Japan Arab Conference.
