BA Hosts Delegation of UN Member States Representatives

A delegation of UN member states representatives visited the BA on Tuesday, 1 September 2015 as part of the meetings organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 28 August until 2 September 2015. The meetings aimed to promote Egypt’s nomination for the membership of the UN Security Council.
The BA hosted 50 representatives, and they were given a tour of the Bibliotheca and its different sections. Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the BA, gave a speech on the history of the BA since its establishment in ancient times, its important role through different historical eras, and its revival in 2002.
The delegation visit was held as part of the Ministry’s plan to promote the Egyptian nomination for the membership of the UN Security Council by meeting with the President and Ministry officials to highlight Egypt’s priorities concerning international issues.
The UN Permanent Representatives discussed the challenges and threats facing the global community and how to resolve them, including the issues of world peace, development, and the role of small and medium-sized states in the decision-making process.
