The BA Organizes a Lecture on the Historicism in Contemporary Mediterranean Architecture
The BA Alexandria and Mediterranean Research Center (Alex-Med) will organize on Sunday, 17 February 2008, a lecture entitled “Historicism in Contemporary Mediterranean Architecture”, the eighth in the series of “Thinking the Mediterranean” lectures, which started in May 2006, and gathered 15 specialists in the history and culture of the Mediterranean, as part of Ramses 2 Program.
Dr. Yehia Abbas, Head of Architectural Engineering and Environmental Design Department, Arab Academy of Science and Technology, and George Joseph Arbid, Professor of Architecture, the American University of Beirut will speak in the lecture, in which they will review the contemporary architectural heritage of Alexandria and Beirut, and how much it is influenced by the architectural arts in the Mediterranean.
The series of “Thinking the Mediterranean” presents two points of view on the Mediterranean; one from the north and the other from the south. These events are published on the Internet and broadcasted via several TV channels.
