The BA Participates in Geneva’s International Book and Press Fair

The BA will participate in Geneva’s Annual International Book and Press Fair, from 30 April to 4 May 2008, with a collection of the BA and its research centers publications in Arabic, English and French, in coordination with the General Egyptian Book Organization (GEBO).
The BA will also present in Geneva’s Fair the Panoramic show Culturama, a project implemented by the BA Egyptian Center for Documentation of Cultural and Natural Heritage (CULTNAT), presenting the history of Egypt during the Coptic, Islamic and Modern Eras.
Dr. Khaled Azab, Head of the BA Media Department and Deputy Director of the BA Calligraphy Center, will give a lecture on Max van Berchem, one of the most renowned Arabic Calligraphers. Max van Berchem has many publications on Islamic inscriptions and writings, and has an organization, that bears his name in Geneva, studying Arabic calligraphy and Oriental Studies.
The organizers of the Geneva International Book Fair chose Egypt to be the guest of honor in its twenty second round, in recognition of the Egyptian civilization, being one of the early civilizations that used writing.
