The Reference Services Unit is holding its monthly play reading session in English on Wednesday, 14 May 2008. Participants will read Ghosts by the Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen.
The play tells the story of Helene Alving, a mother who is trying to protect her only son, Osvald from inheriting his father's philandering. However, she fails and the boy gets syphilis and falls in love with Regina Engstrand, Mrs. Alving's maid, who turns to be an illegitimate daughter of Captain Alving, and thereby Osvald's half-sister. At the end, Mrs. Alving’s past is like ghosts haunting her everywhere and she cannot escape her fate or prevent it.
The session starts at 16:00 hrs. at the Arts and Multimedia Library. Participants should register their names at the General Information Desk at the Library Entrance.
