“Sinai at the Heart of Egypt” a Seminar at the BA

Alexandria— The BA Specialized Advisory Committee for History, Geography, and Antiquities is organizing a Seminar entitled “Sinai at the Heart of Egypt”, 24 and 25 May 2008.

Speakers will be Dr. Ishaq Obeid, Professor, Department of History, Faculty of Arts, Ain Shams University; Dr. Zubaydah Atta, Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Helwan University; Dr. Fathi Abu Ayanah, Professor of Human Geography, Faculty of Arts, Alexandria University; Dr. Hassan Nafaa, Professor and Chairman of the Political Science Department, Cairo University; Dr. Abdelhalim Nureldine, Professor of Ancient Egyptian Language, Faculty of Archeology, Cairo University; and Dr. Kadry Hefny, Professor of Psychology, Ain Shams University.

Dr. Mohsen Youssef, Director of the BA Dialogue Forum Center and Senior Advisor for Special Projects, stated that the Seminar aims to explore the optimal potential exploitation of Sinai, pointing out that they will discuss a number of topics, including: Sinai in Egyptian politics, the international legal situation in Sinai, the lessons learnt from history, challenges and future prospects for Sinai, the Egyptian vision of the security situation, the environment and individuals in Sinai, resources and optimizing investment, cultural and intellectual support to Sinai, among other topics.

The Seminar will be held at the BA Conference Center, Multipurpose Hall.
