Serageldin Participates in the Annual Petra Conference

Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Library of Alexandria, is participating in the Fourth Annual Petra Conference of Nobel Laureates, convened by King Abdullah II Fund for Development and the Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity, in Petra, 17-19 June 2008.
The Conference brings together a great number of eminent world figures. This year’s theme is: “Reaching for New Economic, Scientific and Educational Horizons”.
The Conference will focus on bridging the economic gap between developing and developed countries, and on eradicating extreme hunger and poverty, while a series of brainstorming sessions will encompass issues relating to innovative educational tools; arts and culture as powerful tools for communication; advances in medicine, science and technology; and energy solutions.
